What grade of oil should I use in the damper on a Trojan coupling.

It states on the instruction sheet with the overhaul kit from Trojan what the oil is, Castrol Hyspin seems to ring a bell, it was something weird that nobody has ever heard of, why its not included with the seal kit is anyones guess. Ive used 15w/40 engine oil in mine without problems simply because I had some already, it seemed similar in thickness to the original oil. Possibly a universal agricultural hydraulic oil would also do.

only danger is if its got seals swelling with motor oil: i would ring trojan your self and ask and also try google if the answer on the phone matches ghoogle then your probably save to have the correct information.

OK. I've stuck some 5/40 in and we'll see what happens. The only seal is an O ring.
