starts and idles good,free revs ok,but when try and drive it it dies,you can very carefully coax it up to 100kph but if you try and take off normally it dies.replaced plugs,coil and plug leads about 20,000k ago with genuine ford parts that are meant to be good for 100,000ks.

change them again or take it back to the ford dealer/mechanic who fixed it. Just because it is guaranteed things can break at any time

Well that probably isn't the problem. Time for a proper diagnostic check, if its not responding to load you'd have to suspect an air flow meter or other fuelling issue.
