Take it easy tiger, No-one's saying "iconic" apart from you. But that would be a lovely car to tool around in with the roof open. I doubt he's expecting a US / Aus muscle car fan to buy it.

(And FWIW there is a huge commercialised lobby e.g. Beach Hop etc telling us that hot rods and old US cars never sold here new are somehow iconic of our summer; what's up with that, do you reckon!)

Each to their own I guess, looks like an ugly hunk of metal to me.

It is a very nice car at a good price (the Celica conversion costs about $2500). Its not just a Summer car though.

Trouble is you would be spending more time trying to keep the British heap of junk going and reliable that there would be no time left for cruising :-)

I've had two P6 Rovers. One years ago and I liked it.Then a couple of years ago bought one on a whim.I discovered it was just an old car, not very powerful, noisy, didn't ride very well, awful brakes.Loved the engine note, but that's all.You can do much better for four or five grand.

Too right, I'd like to know the answer to that too, since when have Corvettes, Mustangs and Cadillacs been part of traditional NZ summer culture!I don't know how/why people buy these vehicles to rediscover their youth when their youth was spent (misspent!)in Mk3 Zephyrs, HR Holdens and Morris Minor convertibles. And pay out huge wads of cash for the privelage of owning something that is part of American culture and not ours.Weird.
