Unless you own an MR2 with the external venting rearwards up and out of the engine bay, then no, its illegal.

It's got to do with gases not going through exhaust. I think.
Not really a fan of the sound, I'd rather hear a v8 roaring down the road.

No I hate the sound of an externally venting wastegate, especially on a tractor sounding turbo four banger.
Mine is really really good. Had a week off last week so dropped the engine out and did some maintenance, cambelt, waterpump, idler bearings, tensioner, thermostat, cam gear seals, valve cover gasket, crankshaft seal, ct20b turbo, downpipe, leads, rotor, dizzy cap, plugs.

WRONG it must be venting behind the rearmost passenger compartment opening. Though the VIRM has just been updated and ANY wastegate upgrade must be certified now.
