Thanks for that. The wiring loom all looks clean and tidy with no evidence of extra wiring being added. The bulbs are fine. When I turn the key to the far right to the "park" position the tail lights work. But in that position the motor doesn't run.or the head lights.
When ignition is on and I have head lights and the brake lights work but no tail/numberplate light.!
Hmmm! It MAY be a problem with the switches on the handle bars !

What do you think!

antwerp87, May 26, 10:29pm
Considering your head lights are working I wouldnt think it was a switch issue when it comes to the handle bars. Your lights working when the ignition switch is on but engine isint running is a funny one. I would love to be able to come take a look at it at some stage. But I'm not going to be in Christchurch till late August. (planning a wedding is taking up too much of my time to go traveling around)
Ill have a chat to the boys at work and see what any of them think. Many minds make light work. :D

Thanks for that. Well, if the problem is not sorted nearer to Aug.who knows !
Good luck on the wedding planning ! Yours , is it !

Mike

Yea Its mine. August 6th is the date. And its getting dam close!Stressed out to the max. Have allipecia because of it lol

antwerp87, May 27, 6:05am
The Distributor cap is prone to cracking. The exhaust manifold is prone to cracking. Cam Belts can be a pain without the right tools. Other than that there ok. If you get one where the radiator has already been replaced then ya usually all good. Oh and monitor the thermostat. they can get stuck closed sometimes.

antwerp87, May 27, 6:35am
Not really. Its just another thing that can go wrong. Oh and the knock sensor is very sensitive in them. keep an eye on that. can be an issue. But the radiator isint just an issue in the 5cyl cars its also a problem in older CRV's and some older accords

antwerp87, May 27, 6:44am
Yea there a noce sounding car too. I have seen em with a turbo (heaps of room near the manifold) and they go pretty well

mekongmike, May 27, 9:15pm
Cool. My wedding date was AUG 9th.( Years ago !) And my allipecia started AFTER the wedding !

Hi, i just bought a 97 integra type rand the boot area has water just sitting there (where the spare wheel fits). any idea where the water is coming from!cheers

antwerp87, May 29, 11:20pm
The Boot seal. There chronic for that.
Drill a small hole in the lowest part of the spare wheel well and it should solve most of your issue. And when you get a chance go get a boot seal.

ninja_man, May 29, 11:22pm
ok cheers for that. any idea how much they cost roughly! thanks

antwerp87, May 29, 11:28pm
Hundred bucks maybe. I don't usually bother with the seals. Once u drill the hole you usually dont have an issue after that. But price it up with Repco or Honda. Chassis number etc should be able to give you a pretty good figure.

ninja_man, May 29, 11:30pm
ok cheers for that :)

We have a 2002 civic1700.It's been plagued by electrical faults - needed new computer, circuit board repairs, numerous bulbs, charge light repaired, several SRS faults & others - any ideas! We've been told it has had some mucking round behind the instrument cluster (ex driving school). It seems to me like periodic electrical surges must be causing the problem - last week both low beam headlight filaments went.

antwerp87, May 30, 11:27am
The fact that there is surging seems to me like someone has bypassed something in the wiring loom. I would need to have a look at it to see where its started. Following the wiring diagram and loom should give you an idea as to where to start looking.
Sorry I cant be of more help.
Can I ask where your based! I dont mind coming to look free of charge if your close by at some stage.
Regards
Anton

Bump (sorry had to)

antwerp87, Jun 6, 12:22am
london for a year and australia (mainly brisbane) for just over 2

ct9a, Jun 6, 12:45am
faulty alternator

antwerp87, Jun 6, 12:56am
That's a very real possibility. Surely that'sone of the first things to check out tho and if a sparkey or mech has already looked at it they would have checked that first

vjregal770, Jun 6, 1:37am
OK antwerp87. My old man's 2002 Accord VTiL (NZ new, last of the old shape US body) won't idle when cold - you have to let it run for several minutes in the morning before setting off, or it will die at the first set of lights.

After that though, the car runs normally.

Services all up-to-date and the fuel injection system has been checked and OK'd

Any ideas!
Cheers

check the fast idle valve. Its on the end of the intake manifold. Can sometimes get clogged up and gets stuck closed. Not too hard to replace but don't think they can be repaired from memory

vjregal770, Jun 6, 1:55am
Thanks antwerp87! We've been putting up with it for ages now.

antwerp87, Jun 6, 1:59am
that would be the first place to look. if its not the cause come back preferably with build date and any other issues that may be relivent in the past
