I know my valley gaskets were about to go on mine. I just went ahead and did the whole top side of the motor one weekend and while it was all off did the dizzy cap n rotor cause it's so much easier on my VN with that off. Feel a lot better about the motor now it has that done.
First step is usually a really good clean, let it dry then run the motor and look for where it leaks. Might just be a leaking heater tap under the covers or something.

thanks but defintly coming from the valley gasket. Done some more looking and found more info it a known fault
Yeah when you install a new set of gaskets good silicone and a super clean surface helps. I haven't leaked a drop since I did mine.
Another thing if you DIY it. Torque the inlet like a cylinder head. Bolts will loosen as you work your way around and the gaskets crush down, I just ran around it starting in the middle then went around again before one last check. Old chevs etc are the same and if you stuff it up you get milky oil the first time you start and run it, fracking V8s.
