Toyota 2C Diesel Leak

twaymouth, Nov 1, 4:57am
So my trusty 2C diesel has developed a leak from the injector pump, it is losing a fair bit of fuel and I can see that it is leaking from the joint between this component: http://i39.tinypic.com/2uzf055.jpg and the injector pump body. My question is what will happen if I remove the component in the photo to replace the o-rings as shown in this diagram! http://i44.tinypic.com/14kwhl.png From the diagram it looks simple, 2 o-rings and the leak should be sorted however I am concerned that I will somehow stuff the pump or a large spring will escape when I remove the component. So has anyone had one of these to bits before or is this one of those jobs best left for the experts!

You can remove that part via the two allen cap screws with no issues. There is a spring in behind but it wont ping out if you pull away gently. Fit a new oring and job done. Unfortunately if this seal is replaced the pump will start leaking from one of the other 10 external seals as they are all in the same conduction. And at least 3 of the seals will require the pump to be removed. No harm in trying tho lol.

Thanks for that, I will give it a go but I should probably be looking for another pump.

Yeah, but how good is a second hand pump! It's a big job replacing it (cambelt off, etc.). You are better off sending it to a diesel specialist to rekit it. Replace the leaking O ring, and go from there.

The full denso seal kit is only $70 or so, and takes me 0.5 of an hour to fit. The longest part of the job is removing and refitting the pump. Second hand pump would be a waist of money.

I think I will start with the seal that is leaking as I am confidant about doing that one my self and if it starts leaking some ware else then I guess its off to the diesel specialist.

You would be wise to get the genuine o ring from Denso, or you could be doing it again real soon.
