rocketman27, Dec 2, 10:24am
hi all,
i have a 1990 mitsi pajero, 3.0l v6 petrol,
owned for about 5months,
and its makeing a ticking sound which is driving me crazy.
tried oil change etc.
it sounds like its comeing from the bottom of the engine. metal sounding, if u rev while in park, becomes very lound and fast.
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
cheers

Please don't get all tecchy in here ;-)
As soon as someone posts a question with a vague description of a symptom of what may or may not indicate a big problem, please stick to the standard response - advise them that the absolute worst case scenario is the most likely one.
Wonder if they're like this in health forums;
Q"hey, I've had a headache for three hours - any idea what's causing it!"
A " gotta be a neuroblastoma, and if it's big enough to be causing headaches, get your affairs in order now - you've only got days left".

LOL probably not.
Same engine as I had in my Galant, started ticking really bad (more of a clatter) & did flush/ oil change/ lifter additive & it was fine for the next3 years I had it.

ur local mitsi garage will have lots in stock

the-lada-dude, Dec 4, 6:53pm
he said from the bottom of the eng !
take the friggn piece of crap to a motor garage and get an opinion on damage or 2 - 3 opinions, then comeback to this site and someone will have the right advise on how to tackle the problem

mrfxit, Dec 4, 8:01pm
Yes by all means get a garage to check it over but in the meantime

. (have seen this) .
Check all the belts for tension & fan to covers clearance
Make sure theres no cables hanging down & touching the belts /fan or exhaust system
If you are able to do this, check the engine mounts for broken/loose rubbers,
