take out a stuffed 4D56 non turbo and fit a 4M40 non turbo out of an L400! Would engine mounts be in the same place, would bellhousing pattern be the same. OR what would another option be ie: 3.8 and auto commie, RB30 and auto,dont really want to go to V8, Any ideas! thanks people

The commie 3.8v6 can be done easy enough. Marks adapters do a kit. Don't know if the 4m40 has the same bellhousing pattern as the 4d56.The engine mounts from the L400 would very likely be different as well.

No. a 4d56 out of a L300, L200, Pajero will fit (sumps, picks ups, dipstick tube and hoses need to be changed) L400 (4d56) has different pulley alignment and bugger all interchanges anything else. 4d56 & 4m40 bellhousings different.

Awesome thanks robbos1for the info on the diesel dfiferences. The 3.8 conversion I could do but will need to get it wired. Thanks zooki007, who are Marks adapters! cheers
