i would check theres power where there should be and good earths first before you start worrying about the crank angle sensor

Sorry I think of 2 things when you say you "had a auto tech" around! 1 is an automatic transmision expert, but I would say they are in the wrong feild to be doing such a thing unless they have experience in this case, that you know and you trust them. 2 is a person with a peice of paper from a lightly regulated training program that produces 9 idiots out of every 10 people. Sorry if I am wrong. I hope they know what they are doing as you can end up causing more damage with lack of knowlege! It would be good if you could explain futher on auto tech! like do you mean a Mechanic! if so what type or experience level do you mean! or do you mean an Auto Electrician! or something elce!
