Thanks very much for the advice, all back together and leak free! Cheers.

Got a 1985 Mitsi Mirage 1300 manual sedan and I'm trying to replace the mild steel water pipe that bolts to the engine. It goes from the back of the water pump, across the front of the engine, around the corner and hooks up to the lower rad hose, a heater hose and looks to be an auto choke hose. The new one has a sort of barbed fitting on the water pump end and it seals with a rubber O-ring - does anyone know if that is just a hand press fit into the casting! Or if there's any trick to getting the old one out! I haven't applied brute force yet and thought I should check first! TIA

gentle force moving to mini brute give it a bit of a wriggle.

apply sum lubricant to the o-ring to help it slip in. With lubricant it should go in fairly easily.

That almost sounds pornographic

yep with the new o-ring installed it should just be a press fit - make sure there is no left over debris on the inside of the water pump housing where it slips into.
