uhmm. BARINA or BERLINA! One is a small rebadged Suzuki and the other is a base model shitbox Commodore.

I would have figured you just pull the vacuum tube off the vacuum advance unit and check the static timing and make sure the mechanical advance works before putting the vacuum advance back on. I would assume it's around 5deg BTDC at approx 750rpms. Personally I would just advance it as far as you can before it pings, then back it off until it stops pinging.
