Undo exhaust, loosen engine mounts, jack under front of engine, turn gear box around so the part where the starter motor goes is towards the bottom this helps it clear the gearbox tunnel.

Agreed, loosen engine mounts and jack under the front, makes it so much easier! Also if you havent already, invest in a clutch alignment tool or make one using a bit of hard dowelling (not really recommended except in emergency) or ideally use a broken off input shaft off of another gearbox if you can find one. Good luck, and don't give up - I do remember last time I did one of these it just wouldn't go on no matter what, then all of a sudden everything slipped neatly into place, followed by a nice cup of tea and a sigh of relief :)

find a stuffed gearbox and cut the input shaft off, use that as a clutch alighnment tool, Nissan used the same spigot size and spline on all there manual gearboxes up to the S15 6speed gearbox, A12, A15 L16, L18, L20B, L20, L26, L28, RB20, RB25, RB26, SR20boxes all have the same size shaft

Sometimes the bac of flyweel has brass bush if new,checkit sldes ont gbox shaft
