Valleystreamtheres a few possibilities. 1) the dealer wound the clock back 30k 2) the milage at border check was incorrect. There was one REALLY stupid dealer who was nailed for odo tampering about that time. BUT by now realistically 30000 isnt a big amount of milage if the car is still good. Keeping in mind we are talking 8 years ago now

This was in 2004 so it happened after border check and before the first registration check in NZ.

Most odo tampering happens in Japan after car is dereged.two companys in japan that wind back speedos are NZ owned companys. One of them is called "JEVIC" They have a round blue sticker that says "Passed OK"
I brought my Hiace Van fresh import at 61,000Km's.It failed 1st warrent on steering rack slop.
