Hi there, we are currently selling one of our cars.

We have been made an offer but it is low as the guy said we have wound the odometer back! This is untrue. We've been the ONLY NZ owners (for 12 years) and it's never been wound back. The reading he says he can see on carjam is NOT what we have on our odometer currently so I'm not sure how this has happened! Can some car techie person help! lol

Not without knowing what the readings are.

meathead_timaru, Apr 18, 5:30pm
Chances are it's a keying error at WoF time.

Go to http://www.carjam.co.nz register an account (it's free for 3 lookups per month), put in your registration plate, post a link to the free report.

Or if you're worried about 'privacy' just post an image of the odometer readings graph.

Most likely you have had a useless wof guy who can't put in the correct numbers when issuing the wof, resulting in readings all over the place. I have the same battle with them, especially trying to explain a 5 digital odometer and the 6th digit is in m (white) but nooooo they think its 6. So before I realized it on carjam the graph is pretty funky.

Well one car jam says it's gone from 199000 to 188000 . last warrant 2 months ago.Car reading says 204556 now currently.

http://www.motorweb.co.nz/ no more limited to 3 look ups

noos, Apr 18, 5:33pm
Thanks. If they entered it in wrong how can we get it fixed!

meathead_timaru, Apr 18, 5:39pm
Doesn't give a chart of the readings from which you can more easily determine a likely keying error, just a graph.

meathead_timaru, Apr 18, 5:40pm
The 'buyer' is playing on your ignorance to get a discount. Don't budge.

phillip.weston, Apr 18, 5:41pm
shit at that kms, what difference does 16,000kms make! it's not like the difference between 50,000kms and 150,000kms.

johnf_456, Apr 18, 5:43pm
Yes but I'm just saying about the limited 3 looks up if you noticed my comment.

meathead_timaru, Apr 18, 5:48pm
And I'm saying it's not necessary. The OP is unlikely to use all the 3 free Carjam lookups which are a more comprehensive free report containing more relevant information. So the motorweb ones are worthless in that regard.

johnf_456, Apr 18, 5:50pm
Yes but I also posted it for others may also want to look up more than 3 cars.

crzyhrse, Apr 18, 5:51pm
'Tangent twit' strikes again!

johnf_456, Apr 18, 5:53pm
More help than what you are doing, all I did was list a website for people to lookup cars. Has carjam is not limited free anymore and not everyone knows of the alternatives, so why the problem!

crzyhrse, Apr 18, 5:59pm
That's your opinion. And it's wrong.

noos, Apr 18, 6:00pm
I appreciate all advice given . Thanks all =)

johnf_456, Apr 18, 6:02pm
Well I am allowed an opinion aren't I, or is this nazi hitler here!
Carjam does not offer unlimited look ups, most people would cool never seen this one before. Has most people think of motor lookup tools and think carjam, so no need to make harsh comments.
