Back in '87 bought an '84 Starlet off Budget Rentals. Had 3 years no-problems running on it and traded it in. Saw the same car a few weeks ago and chatted to the owner who's had it for 4 years. Its now doneclose to 300K, still the same paint (!) and running well.

225kms sounds a bit high. Thought most Rental car firms on-sold at about 70-80,000 km.

We have bought a coupel of ex lease cars and they have been great.Usually very reasonably priced and you get a full service history.Good for small business owners as well as you pay FBT on the purchase price but not on maintenance.

The best car we have had as an everyday driver is an ex rental.In1999 I purchased a 1997 Falcon Futura ex rental with approx 60000 k's.in excellent condition and well maintained.never had one problem with it.it has now done 152000k's and is a great car to drive.Despite having a late model Falcon as well, I always prefer to drive the 1997 ex rental.
