Hard to say. I have had a few of these but the memory isn't photo quality. Looks pretty stock.

I thought that most rootes stuff used Zenith but that became Zenith-stromberg somewhere along the line so its prob the factory carb which happens to look like a Holden unit,

No,they had the Zenith carb that the fuel line went straight in the front of it, like most of the pommie stuff of that era, then they went to strombergs with the diaphram.

Well. to put it another way, THATS not a "roots Group" carb & does look like an early Holden "red" motor carb
Roots Group ran Solex / Zenith & Stromburg (rubber diafram) carbs
