In my 30 years self employed I have adozen of unpaid DTfindings all under 1G$& not worth chasing . Ifhefile sit to district court you can claim costs( solicitors fees etc .) The Respondant is more likely to pay up priorto court thanriskstatuary declation(winding up order if a company) if it goes against them & dont pay.In that case its best done viasolicitor, debt collectors are worse than useless .

Keep out of the District Court unless you are willing to suffer considerable stress, pay a bunch of fat lawyers a heap of cash and risk paying the other parties legal fees. Stick to the DT where you have no risks. When you win it, file an Enforcement Order is the District Court - that part does NT require a lawyer. An outfit that continues trading is unlikely to not pay as their creditworthiness is on the line.
I've been there and done that quite a few times and have never lost a DT claim, have always recovered the cash.

I have never heard more crap in my life! The people who constructed this whole blog are the ones who have no integrity or brains... Why haven't they followed through with seeking the money?? Because it's all crap! Mike Cranstoun may have made mistakes, but we all do. The people who started this are thick and liars and I know this first hand! So for all of you who have read and believed what they have written, you have been sucked in! Mike is one of the best, if not the best, engine builder in NZ. If anyone has an issue it might pay to take it up with him personally instead of hiding behind a computer as any mature person would.
