From memory, there are 2 different gearbox / transfer case combinations. I think the overall lengths are the same but you may come unstuck with the bell housing. There is also two different sizes with the splined collar that joins the gearbox output drive to the transfer case. It was a while ago that I found this out and am a bit hazy on details. It was a case of "bolt straight in" but was notthat simple. Am not a Hilux "guru" but have done quite a bit on them over the years.

If you look on the alloy id plate in the back of the engine bay, it will say Trans/axle on the bottom line either w - - or g - - .These are the id codes for the gearbox. Then look em up on the net and workout whats what.
