Nope. Fantastic vehicles. I service them all the time, at least one a week, 2wds and 4wds. Keep up the servicing (oil, oil filter, fuel filter, coolant, etc.) Cambelts are dead easy to replace, less than half an hour.
Very nice, very powerful diesels, nice to drive, better ute than the Hilux.
The only problem I have, is the temptation to put your foot down when driving.

A top ute, I woudn't say better than a Hilux, but better bottom end torque than anything other than a 450Nm Navara. Drive nice, last well.

i have an '07 BT 50, apart from the LSD needing a replacement it's been a great ute. our company fleet is mostly Toyotas but this beats all of them hands down. better ecconomy, better towing power, better quality finish inside & out, doesn't chew thru tyres like the Toyotas. i've just past 180k & the engine & box are as solid as with no unusual noises. my last Toyota had to have a new gearbox by 180k as the main output bearing had failed. never by a Toyota again, Mazda all the way.

The "new" Hiluxes are much softer, nice enough to drive, but have too many faults too soon.

hadone as a work ute.not a single problem

Thanks people. I have heard that abut the "soft hilux" elsewhere too, interesting to hear it repeated here too. And they cost sometimes twice as much for the same milage etc

Edit: at least often asking twice as much anyway.

How often does a poster ask about a particular vehicle and every subsequent post is compimentary! This must be a first.

I hadn't heard any thing bad previously about them. May be on to something!
