The young fellas hilux keeps pulling 5th gear of the shaft . Had the same problem before . The G52 sitting behind a 2.8 turbo cant handle mid revs when towing . I want to replace it with either an earlier W56 or later R type box . Which box will be easiest to use what mods are needed if known to replace the G52 with either W556 or R150 ! Any hilux people awake !

i would go for a r151 out of 2.4 surf been told its direct swap but dont know for sure, the w56 is the same length and size but the gear sticks is in a different location, also i have a w56 rebuilt but i stuffed reverse gear on second trip, and i have a g52 gear cluster complete in good con

Does anybody know for sure if the R151 or R150 will be a direct swap over . Are the lengths, mounting pointsetc the same !

Put a r150 into a Ln106 & had to had to make a 40mm! spacer to fit rear shaft .Front wil stretch .This wagon also happens to be 2.8 turbo.G boxes are shit.R151 are different ratio & different set up internaly

dozerman, do you mean you had to make a tail shaft spacer? so the r150 box is shorter than the g52 box? And are the r150 and r151 different in design and ratio? what is best suited to a ln106 2.8 turbo, my g 52 blew up aswell cheers.
