When removing a handbrake (the kind that goes under the dash) on a 2003 holden rodeo single cab what do you have to strip! It seems that the whole dash has to come out to get at the one nut thats on the firewall to get the entire bracket off. To me that seems over the top to remove the whole dashboard to get at one silly nut.

you might be looking at a caged nut,which is anchored to the firewall,have a look under the bonnet and see if there is bolt going thru from engine side of firewall

the new bracket hasnt got a nut on it so it doesnt look like this one would either
