Looking at getting one but are they any good and what they like on fuel

phillip.weston, May 21, 6:35am
horrible on fuel.

zak1998, May 21, 6:46am
as in how bad as it is a 4 litre

trouser, May 21, 6:49am
About 17l per 100ks in town.

zak1998, May 21, 6:57am
I read 12.4 per 100km

thunderbolt, May 21, 6:59am
Depends how you drive and where you live.
Heavy foot and mainly urban cycle will be close to the figure trouser has posted.
Open road and urban mix and a lighter foot will get you around 12l per 100k's for the AWD and a bit less for the RWD.
Look for rust in the early ones, will be informatipn on the net about where to look.

zak1998, May 21, 7:06am
OK thanks any else better out there for the same money and power

thunderbolt, May 21, 7:12am
I dont think so, but someone will disagree for sure.

Mine is a turbo one and it is currently on 15L/100k. My XR8 used to be on 18 - 19L for the same driving. Lots of traffic lights, mainly short distances.

wrong2, May 21, 9:28am
its basically a tall , constant 4wd falcon

on fuel its as bad as the v8's

johnf_456, May 21, 9:33am
Go for it if you have money to burn but as already said they are thirsty.

mopsy3, May 21, 9:37am
personally, I dont think 15L/100k is bad for a great big heavy car, With alot of get up and go and a whole lot of space. What would you expect from an equivalent sized vehicle of another make! Although most of the others in this size range are gutless wonders, diesels or twice the price to buy.

vtecintegra, May 21, 10:03am
IMO a vehicle that big and heavy really needs a decent diesel.Doesn't even have to be slow and unrefined, the modern X5 proves that.

twit7, May 21, 10:15am
just wait a few months for the new diesel

mopsy3, May 21, 10:52am
Just costs twice as much if not more to purchase.

vtecintegra, May 21, 11:00am
True, but when the diesel Territory comes out I reckon it'll be worth the $5k price premium over the petrol version.

It doesn't help second hand buyers much though

4L - 2000 plus kg, it will be heavy on fuel, stands to reason, it needs fuel to move all that weight.

The early ones rust around the door seams. Pull the rubbers off from around the bottom of the tailgate opening - and the back doors.
