Jeez I hate threads like that, the poster wasn't looking for sympathy more like a FYI post and fair enough too, as I imagine a lot of people let these toll payments slip by, then you get the do no wrong tossers on their high horse who have to have their say.

Made me chase up my account to be honest though. Then I remembered that yes, I registered my Visa with them so no need to worry about topping up or not backpaying for a "on off fee" of $10.00 (as you are required to have at least $10 on your account for some reason)Why is that!Just a money grab!

Doubt they can enforce their"fines".

Yea, mine got up to a ridiculous amount of $400 odd. I paid it ($2.00) using a friends credit card online the day after. As the card was not in my name, they assumed i did not pay. Whats the point of giving a reference number if they're only going to look for the name!

Yeah they can: http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2003/0118/latest/DLM227560.html#DLM227560

The rest of it is in the preceding sections.

Moral of the story is pay it when the 1st letter comes.
