I am thinking of trying for mine in a few months and noticed the other day that if I know I am going to be rapidly changing gears I tend to keep my hand on the gear stick - would this fail me does anyone know!TIA.

yep, don't know if it will FAIL you but it wont do you any favours. for the sake of passing, get in the habit of doing it, for the 15 minutes you drive the test.
