Whats needed or & what can one get away without.
Forged pistons, stainless valves, what else is wise to do a really good motor up!
Thanks any tips much appreciated.

First tip is to tell us what kind of engine you are talking about.

pnh4, Apr 28, 11:25pm
I havent decided yet, but thinking about a late 80s to 90s Toyota of some sort.

gilligan2, Apr 28, 11:28pm
Anything can be done with money.

grangies, Apr 28, 11:28pm
Cool.

Are you gonna lower the springs and put a "RACING" steering wheel and some alloy foot pedals in it too.

gilligan2, Apr 28, 11:30pm
To be honest you're wasting your time. buy something thats designed for a turbo.

pnh4, Apr 28, 11:30pm
Stripes I heard are the best bong fad too, so yes I am.

jsbike, Apr 28, 11:31pm
why not just buy a turbo to start with seeing you havent actually got a non turbo car that you want to turbo! failing that, buy a car that will easily fit a factory turbo motor from the same make.

pnh4, Apr 28, 11:32pm
Why buy a used lot when I intend to fit new, not so wise. Duh

pnh4, Apr 28, 11:33pm
Fitting a turbo is the fun part, I'm talking about internal stuff.

jsbike, Apr 28, 11:37pm
if you want to do internal, why not spend the same amount making a factory turbo motor even stronger!

gilligan2, Apr 28, 11:38pm
Buy a 1 or 2 jzge then. get all the bits for a 1 or 2 jzgte enginge from toyota then you will have spent waaaay more than what it would have cost to just buy a 2jzgte anyway. What kind of car is this for! i.e what is it going in!

pnh4, Apr 28, 11:53pm
Why buy a more expensive runner that's gonna' be redone anyway

grangies, Apr 28, 11:55pm
Kewl.

Paint the bonnet flat black too.

An old skool RWD, havent decided on what perhaps a Starlet or 323 Mazda, just after a fews tips on engine mods, typical when someone starts their own thread on Motoring get the smartass homos.

Too mean, Im a friendly Rice driver so noooo

gilligan2, Apr 29, 12:06am
some motors require more work than others to turbo charge.

plasticboys, Apr 29, 12:08am
lower comlower lift cams

pnh4, Apr 29, 12:09am
Thanks for the input, but you obviously know jack all about my question.

Easy:

#1 Start by making wild claims on the message board and amongst your friends about how cool / fast its going to be.

#2 Buy an old junker

#3 Tell everyone its a "project car"

#4 Buy a used purple Chinese air filter first, then some of those Repco Specials "mods" like seat covers, radiator cap, LED lights, RPS muffler etc. You know, the cheap shit that can be brought up front.

#5 Go around to a few mechanics and car tuners for quotes, totally waste their time by getting them to price up parts and do proposals

Finally, never have enough money to start properly and get your car stickered by a "pig" because your tin can exhaust is too loud and your warrant is out three months. Sell it un-reg "as is where is" since you're "going overseas, but keen as on swaps".

Sorted.

A Hi lift cam is more suited, beeep!

pnh4, Apr 29, 12:13am
