and whats wrong with trying the first shop you come to! found many good cafes and bakeries that way

johnf_456, Mar 21, 7:58pm
who said you were looking for a cafe, I mean if your looking for a certain shop Ie out of town and you want some parts for your car. Rather than driving around in circles or driving for 30km not even know if a shop is there that will sort you out. Unless maps books do this also now!

xacoon, Mar 21, 8:00pm
when did I mention map books! google map yes map book no.

johnf_456, Mar 21, 8:02pm
So why use google maps but not a gps, you can even get smart phones that will give you google in your hands anywhere!

xacoon, Mar 21, 8:03pm
why not! I can remember a predetermined route.

johnf_456, Mar 21, 8:04pm
Good for you if you can remember a dozen routes, wow such a winning brain there. Must have the ability to download data then eh.

xacoon, Mar 21, 8:07pm
jealous!

johnf_456, Mar 21, 8:08pm
Yup I can't remember multiple turns, routes and destinations and not forget one bit of it.

xacoon, Mar 21, 8:10pm
I feel for you. I really do. not having basic function and all.

johnf_456, Mar 21, 8:12pm
Your are just full of it, the sun shines!

xacoon, Mar 21, 8:14pm
not at this time of night at this time of year it doesnt. what are you smoking! must be pretty good.

jmma, Mar 21, 8:14pm
Uuuummmm, someone might answer your question soon as sanity is restored (o:

johnf_456, Mar 21, 8:15pm
Well considering your super human and you know all routes apparently do share how you memorize everything you see.

xacoon, Mar 21, 8:17pm
hmmm I research the routes prior to travveling them. fairly simple! my memory is better than a goldfish by a good 10 or 12 hours at least!

likit, Mar 21, 8:19pm
So while you are trying to drive safely you are busy looking at your GPS,as far as I'm concerned they are more distracting than using a cellphone

johnf_456, Mar 21, 8:23pm
How so I do not have to touch it at all while driving I can look at it once in a while or listen to the voice instructions. Its not more dangerous than a phone that requires physically touching it while driving and actually diverts your attention rather then just galancing at it and go oh yup turn left in 2km/

So a gps is more dangerous then using my cell to text while driving I must tell a cop that!

johnf_456, Mar 21, 8:24pm
Each to there own, I wish auckland was simple.Especially when I am a busy guy and a lot of info goes in and out daily.

xacoon, Mar 21, 8:32pm
yep I'm not busy at all. I usually only work 60 or 70 hours a week. lazy bastard I am. no info at all.

xacoon, Mar 21, 8:33pm
and heres a guy that thought licencing was hard.

johnf_456, Mar 21, 8:37pm
I never said it was hard, just saying the problem with morons on the road is people who got there licence years ago have a problem who think they are immune from the road rules. A lot know the rules so a driving test will not change that they just simply choose not to follow them and do what they want.

xacoon, Mar 21, 8:41pm
and here is the one and only time I wish biker69 was here.

johnf_456, Mar 21, 8:42pm
He doesn't even have a license, so you must be a perfect driver eh. Ah thats right the sun shines now doesn't it.

xacoon, Mar 21, 8:44pm
no its still night time! what are you on! you need medicated fulla.

ceedoubleyou, Mar 21, 9:02pm
Dejvu, have I posted on this thread before! Anyways, why don't you buy a el-cheapo China made 5' screen off trade me with igo GPS programme for approx $100, works a treat! BTW, I originally used a Uniden GPS about 4-5 years ago for approx $400, already very dated, it don't show the Hillsborough motorway! Uniden want $230 for updated maps, thinking of using igo maps D/L off net for it, but it only has 3.5" screen. Here is a youtube of a 7" screen I had installed in my Subaru. http://www.youtube.com/watch!v=mxYvjBvxDZY

Of course they are great for tourists and many business applications. For the rest of us who use them it's more about laziness and wank value.
