hi i run 245 /70 16 inch tyres on my 97 izuzu bighorn with no wavier when towing but a set of 265/75/16 inch tyres have come up for auction at the right price and just wanted to ask others if the 265 would be too big for the 7 inch rim and make it wallow and waiver undertow being too wide for the rimcheers in advance

What pressure do you run the 245's
I run 265/75/15" on std Hilux rims & they are fine at 38psi
mine are a similar size to what you are looking at.

Best place to compare size differences

it is a wider and taller tyre so it is quiet possible but I have seen it done before with success and would also depend on the type of tyre.

265/75/16's are recommended to be used on 7.5" to 9.0" wide rims. Don't forget as well as being wider the tyre is also just over 2" taller so it wil affect your gearing and speedo. If you must do it,get a set of 5. If you get a puncture and try and put on of the OE tyre on one side with this larger size on the other you will stuff the 4wd system.I personally wouldn't recommend going to the 265/75 on your current rims

Very common to upgrade from 29" tyres to 31" tyres (215/80/** up to 265/75/**)
Any higher & you WILL very likely run in to gearing torque problems on hills
With the 1st step up as suggested & planned, you speedo will in reality, be out by about 5kph slow at 100kph (+ or - std speedo errors etc)

the 265 tyres are bf goodrich all terrain

265's on a 7" rim is not a worry at all.

They are a bit taller, so your speedo may read a bit slower (Probably read true) and it may not seem that you get as many km's to a tank of gas, but infact you will be travelling further with the taller tyres. (But will efeect milage slightly)

Will handle fine, pump up to 40psi on the road. Is the set your looking at a "LT" (Light truck) tyre!. I reckon that affects handling moreso than just the size.

Agreed.
LT's don't like the rain & certain compounds /patterns even less.
Been there done that seen it many times.
