Hi guys.As above stick wont move into the 3rd position at all.Other gears are all there.Also no lockout to stop going from 5th to reverse but doubt that would be related but then again could be I suppose.Done 400K.Any ideas before I pull it to bits!Ta

sounds like old age. the ball at the bottom of the gearstick worn excessively. nothing major yet.

I would try removing the gear lever and using a screwdriver to select 3rd. If it goes in,then you have a worn ball or plastic bush on the lever,if it doesnt then you may have a badly worn interlock pin or broken interlock spring.Depending on the box type,you may have to strip the box and repair or replace. Some boxes especially petrol engine models have detent springs and balls retrieveable from outside the box.

Could well be related as if the lockout-usually on the side-is preventing theshift end from moving the rail from going forward in to 3rd. The floor plate on em is big enough to get ya in there and suss it out without removing the box.
