91 or 98 petrol

We have had a late model legacy on our dyno recently for low power output. basically as soon as you run it up on 95 it detects knock and backs the boost back from 16 to 8 psi, retards the timing, adds more fuel and stays like that until you turn the engine off. AS soon as you run it up it does the same again. Once we put 98 in all of this went away and this is on a completly standard vehicle.

A factory Legacy running 16psi Boost! Really! Didn't think they ran anywhere near that high. Its pretty piss poor really if they run that much and still slow as a snail.

i can take a photo of the dyno sheets tomorrow at work if you really want me to but its definatly holding about 16psi (15.6 from memory) until it detects knock.

Is it a stock Legacy with no modifications! I never knew they ran that high

Now that's interesting - thanks.

Might have to run some 98 through and see what happens. I drive like a littl girl though, so I'm not sure I'll notice much difference.
