3 wheel drive!

quater, Apr 21, 9:37am
um Im lost.

snoopy221, Apr 21, 9:41am
toyota surf

Gawd dat tells evry1 evryting.

Reading between the lines it's a later smurf wit the diff dat locks and dee diff is knacked.
it ain't an early 1 wit either manual or auto hubs.

franc123, Apr 21, 9:47am
The two back wheels and the steering wheel. Was that not obvious!

muzz67, Apr 21, 9:49am
meybe op means 3wd is only one front hub engaged (not both)! sounds like simply diff wind-up buggering up steering!

tnt423, Apr 21, 11:41am
x2 try it on gravel.

virgo77, Apr 22, 7:06am
auto hubs have been changed to manual hubs hence 3wd and only gets used offroad just so you know

virgo77, Apr 22, 7:09am
and is a 1991 2.4t with ifs

a.woodrow, Apr 22, 7:21am
Still makes no sense. Are you only locking one of the front hubs!

gadgit3, Apr 22, 7:24am
Any body been under the bonnet playing with vac lines!

bwg11, Apr 22, 7:36am
Why do you lock only one hub! One front hub locked is effectively 2WD, because of the differential, unless you have a limited slip or locker on the front.

virgo77, Apr 22, 8:00am
locking 1 wheel because it wont turn corners if both are locked, vac lines unchanged

a.woodrow, Apr 22, 8:05am
Fault in the front diff causing it to bind.

bwg11, Apr 22, 8:08am
Something very wrong here - I'm beaten.

gadgit3, Apr 22, 8:12am
Dose it favour one side! ie free wheel L/hand lock R/hand no issue but opposite causes the issue also! if so could be a CV joint issue

farmboy11, Apr 22, 8:15am
Broken C.V joint

a.woodrow, Apr 22, 8:15am
Very unlikely to stop the steering wheel from turning

virgo77, Apr 22, 8:17am
both cv joints are fine

gadgit3, Apr 22, 8:21am
Then if the CV's are fine and no one has moved the vac lines on the powersteering pump. moving into 4wd with hubs locked shouldn't restrict the steering wheel to half a turn.

gadgit3, Apr 22, 8:22am
You'd be surprised

virgo77, Apr 22, 8:24am
if i jack it up off the ground it will turn fine in 4wd

tnt423, Apr 22, 8:28am
Can you force it to turn more!

virgo77, Apr 22, 8:29am
if i get angry with it

r15, Apr 22, 8:30am
so what happens when you try turning!
eg steering wheel wont rotate
or
vehicle will move forward but feel tight and skid in the process
