what is the reason for spark arcing out on the fastening lugs on the distributor cap

you have to change the distributor cap and rotor also every now and then as part of service. its why japanese cars fry up the electronic chip when cap and leads are never changed. 4mercs = startech is where i would ask or eml euro marketing . for parts eml is engine only parts

Great cars, watch the cooling system on the 380, was known at the time for over heating problems, otherwise good cars.
