Hi - been degreasing around the coil area and below. Now I find a wire 'dangling' - where is it from! Looking over n/s wing it comes from a small black box that is held under the ignition coil's r/h bolt. Box has: 0.47 / 250 with N78A over another A. A blue wire from it comes around to coil but the other thin black wire just hangs loose (!) Car works ok but it must be there for a purpose! Thanks for help.

Its a capacitor, to cut down the radio interference, Try earthing the black wire.
