Don't worry ,Ford made a mistake dropping the V8 and I see the 4 in NZ being a no-goer ,may different in Aussie with their Rego system favouring smaller capacity engines

Major discounting will go on here

Careful man you dont want to get banned again and have to create a different account again so you can still post.

anyway nothing wrong with that 4 cyl.keep in mind its actually making more power than the AU base v8.and no doubt with a few mods will probably leave the N/A six for dead.

It is how well the entire drive train is put together/ matched that will determine how the ecoboost Falc goes. Engine +gearbox + diff ratio etc.

franc123, Apr 28, 2:43am
Thats largely going to depend on how its priced compared to Mondeo, and if its priced higher will buyers pay more for a bit more performance and RWD! After all both the current Falc and Mondeo are visually similar and closer in size than ever before.

Holden released a four cylinder commodore think it was vn or vp had that horrible opel ohc injected oil burning/leaking pile of crap in it. I remember working on a few many years ago there was like a 3 foot gap between the engine and radiator.

Put a towbar on and void the warranty !
Tow the boat across the Desert road to Taupo for the weekend and wring it's neck there and back.

pnh4, Apr 28, 3:53am
Youd be lucky if a v6 commy would pull 170, a zetec 1.8 or 2L will do 200 to 210

pnh4, Apr 28, 4:01am
The Mazda LUCE is the best poor mans v6 out

franc123, Apr 28, 4:02am
So have I, they were VN only, it was the same engine as was used in the Camira and Pontiac Lemans and the Vectra A. They also used an Australian 4 called the starfire which was used in the VC, H and K's 1980~84, 87 in NZ. as well as the later model Sunbirds. It was Holdens 2850cc 6 with two cylinders cut off.

pnh4, Apr 28, 4:15am
there you cheap in nasty just wack 2 cylinders off & call it technology, sounds like a monkey bus bash trick.

bigfatmat1, Apr 28, 4:59am
I find ford & holden owners amusing. Seems like they always have something to prove to the other brand owner When actually I believe they are trying to make themselves feel better about there poor decisionsin life

mapman, Apr 28, 5:12am
So says they Kia owner.

franc123, Apr 28, 5:22am
Don't blame Holden, blame aussie govt regs at the time. Local manufacturers got walloped with taxes if they used under 90% of parts that were not made there, major parts like motors gearboxes and diffs had to be made by aussie companies it was that simple, doing what they did was the cheapest way to get a 4 cyl engine in 1978 or what year it was. That starfire was also used in aussie built toyota coronas too. By the 80's the rules got changed, they had to. The commodore would have died had they stopped holden using the rb nissan engines for the vl's they had no choice.

The Button Plan.

blackcat17, Apr 28, 5:33am
Yep, on the small plus side they handled much better than the 6 cylinder version.

+1,000,000

bigfatmat1, Apr 28, 4:03pm
actually I do not own any cars at the moment!

gunhand, Apr 28, 4:44pm
As your "Fav quote" says

"Without imperfection there would be nothing" Stephan Hawking on the universe.

So I guess Ford and Holden owners must be on to something after all.

But yes there do seem to be owners of marques that will live and die by there belief that theres is best.

a.woodrow, Apr 28, 4:52pm
Sounds like you brought a spoon to a knife fight bud

bellky, Apr 28, 4:57pm

gmphil, Apr 28, 5:00pm
U never driven a commy then 220 + easily

hyphen, Apr 28, 5:16pm
yes, it's the age old catholic v's protestant battle on newer ground, were no sane or rational thought is put forward other than "well' I'm this way because my Daddy was!"

bubbles244, Apr 28, 5:32pm
where'd you find that POS. had nothing to do with parts. It was to do with emissions, the older straight six as good as it was couldn't run on unleaded. It was cheaper to buy the RB30 off nissan then retool there engines to run on unleaded. that was until the exchange rate dropped and the RB30 became to expensive to import.
enter the 3.8 buick engine from general motors

ema1, Apr 28, 5:59pm
Hope if it is it's a better effort than the Chevrolet/Toyota Cavalier!
Holden would make doubly sure of that I'd say unless their memories are poor or short.

bigfatmat1, Apr 28, 6:02pm
so says the chinese car advocate!
