Auto or Manual for Full Drivers License

kathy100, May 11, 9:17pm
My son passed his full drivers license last week in an auto car. His license has just come through in the post, and says he can only drive automatic cars. (He owns a manual, but did the test in our automatic car) I had rung LTSA a few months ago asking if they are able to drive a manual and auto irrespective of what they sit their test in, and she said that he would be able to drive both after getting his full. Does anyone know if the law has changed in the last few months, or have I been given false info! I can't see anything on the LTSA website, and is after hours, so can't phone. Would love to know the answer, as I have a grumpy 18 year old!

Yeah something's definitely wrong, I sat my full licence test in an Auto and I'm allowed to drive either.

Well my son sat both in a automatic and when I looked at his license it says nothing about the auto /manual stuff.

Don't worry. as long as its full license, cops will never bother checking if car is manual or auto.

Yes this is the way to bring up kids, teach the wrong from the start aye.

So wrong that I feel I ought to pronounce the 'w'.

Thanks everyone for your input.
I am not so worried now, as it must be an error on their part.
I shall ring LTSA tomorrow morning. :-)
