The mighty Lion will continue to roar for a while yet!

savanna19, May 19, 9:49pm
they just dont put out enough tourque for me

brokebloke1, May 19, 10:03pm
you are joking ! arnt you 520Nm of torqure@4400rpm and 270kw of horsepower@5500 not bad for a V8
what would a RX3 do!factory they are 82kw @7000rmp of horsepower and 135Nm of torqure @4000rpm .

savanna19, May 19, 10:13pm
mine puts out 597nm or tourque and 280hp mine at 4400rpm puts out 560nm.peak power at 7200rpm for my car and i guess is my car only weighs 870kgnot sure what a commy weighs
yes from factory back in 1972 motor are much better these days

savanna19, May 19, 10:13pm
mine puts out 597nm of tourque and 280hp mine at 4400rpm puts out 560nm looking at the dyno sheet.peak power at 7200rpm for my car andmy car only weighs 870kgaswell bit of power to weight there haha not sure what a commy weighs
yes from factory back in 1972 motor are much better these days

clark20, May 19, 11:50pm
Yes, but what gear was it in! HP stays the same however torque is multpied (with less speed at the wheels). So if you were in 4th (say 1:1) and had a 3.3 diff you have 170nm.

clark20, May 19, 11:51pm
The new V8 will be 5.5L with 550nm and 328Kw, because of direct injection. Still OHV but who cares!

savanna19, May 20, 12:10am
was in 5 gear and my diff is a 3.6 ratio

bubbles244, May 20, 2:10am
There is no substitute for cubic inch's, the chev block has always had more advantage of the cleveland/windsor design.

ford had to go and grab a truck engine and convert it to run on petrol FFS.

and no wankel engine produces 500nm of torque with out a hair dryer.
shoot that one in the foot right now.

savanna19, May 20, 2:23am
my engine is a standed 20b engine with the twin turbos ripped off it running n/a (its a tripple rota) stock standed

savanna19, May 20, 2:32am
HOLY MOLLY thats alot of grunt but says its a super car and if i was to compare that with mazdas 787b 4 rotor witch puts out
Maximum Power: 700 hp (520 kW)/9000 rpm
Maximum Torque: 448 ft·lbf (607 N·m)/6500 rpm
and thats n/a. that hp is for racing reliabilty as there were getting 900hp

clark20, May 20, 5:29am
Well if 5th is 1.3 on a 3.6 diff then you are getting 216nm (more at motor due to drive drain loss) which matches this

http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php!t=933797

About 250-260 at the motor

If you were getting 597nm at 6000 you should be more around 500+hp, not 270hp

edit: not disn your car, would go well with the lightweight

jarrod261, May 20, 6:55am
But can you comfortably fit 5 people in your car for a long distance trip!

savanna19, May 20, 7:25am
yea its a sedan so can fit 5 if wanted and sorry bout that clark20 on dyno sheet says test gear is 4th not 5th

chris_051, May 20, 8:46am
No they just strapped a turbo to the 4.0 and blew all the other Aussie V8s into the weeds.
BTW Ford never converted a truck diesel engine to run on petrol, the 5.4s in the Falcons are of the modular engine family which was also used in the F150 and 250 (and were well known to have more usable torque than the relatively peaky LS1).

elect70, May 21, 3:27am
I see both Holden & ford have copied Mercedes & bought out a " Black "but unlike the merctheirs isonly cosmetic.Rememberwhen BMWbrought out5series with the scallopedfrontbumber for lights,Falcon followedwith next model , & look athow manyuse the BMWhockey stick " rear sidewindowson their coupes .Used to be japs that were thecopy catsbut now itslazyfolden boys .

quickstitch, May 21, 7:35am
did i miss something, the only advantage the chev had over fords was the price. and that gap has closed down considererably over the last decade. Ford have won the master engine builders challange hands down. also worlds fastest normally aspirated small block by Marsh Motorsport. And last time i looked at aussies drag racing record, a cleveland powered capri was their fastest N/A car as well. But i am a one eyed ford fan.

boss17, May 21, 7:55am
When did Holden guys ever worry about facts though haha. Good on Holden though for doing the work to get their cars over there. It will put alot of the American GM crap to shame over there. I drove an Impala when I was in the staes. What a bl**dy embarrasment of a car. To think they may replace the Commodore with something like that Impala is enough to make me cringe and I'm a Ford man.

toot5, May 22, 5:18am
bumper sticker i seen on a impala
only milk and juice come in 2lt

foxdonut, May 22, 5:27am
The 787 was limited by Le Mans / FIA restrictions, on qualifying tune it was probably making more.

However, comparing a LMGT1 car to a family sedan is like comparing a Saturn V rocket to a firecracker you buy from the Warehouse two days before Guy Fawkes day.

That engine isn't even very good, its a heavily de-tuned racing engine from 10 years ago. (Ironically Le Mans even).

hfc2, May 22, 7:16am
bubbles, bs, the ford 427 was a real weapon cleaned up chev and mopar, do some research, It also cleaned up le mans 3 times it was and still is an awesome bbf.

dinosaw88, May 23, 6:21am
Harrop Engineering say that if you do the same work to a Ford and a Holden V8, the Falcon eats the Commodore.

yachtie3, May 24, 12:18am
I like it!
