Where will I find the fuel pump for a Volkswagen Passat 1998! Somewhere near the fuel tank at the back! The car manual is in Japanese, which doesn't help.
Car broke down in traffic this morning and got it towed home, tested for sparks in engine and sparks are definitely there.

Most cars have them inside the fuel tank, not sure about the Passat though.

On b6 Passat 2005-2011, the pump is under the rear seat driver side. The seat bebch comes out . Clean before removing pump from lid of tank.

Ah, so your '05 - '11 model had a buggered fuel pump too!

No, I put hi octane petrol in my Passat diesel by mistake. I witnessed the sucki moto guy go thru theproceedure. He removed the fuel pump togain access for his extraction hose. Less than a full tanklater the Passat died from fuel starvation and the pump was plugged by crap knocked in.

It IS in the tank in an '98 also.
