when buying please !, car has 148000 on the clock and has the 3.8 engine. any practical input would be appreciated,appears to have been reasonably well serviced and looked after-I am ok re knowledge on cars in general, just dont know much about holdens.

Good site listing all the common faults - there are surprisingly few and by 2002 they had ironed out almost all of them. So over all they are a great car just not overly economical, but you probably already know that much.
Peanuteater,motor and trans on these pretty much bullet proof, I have one of these myself, tows caravaneasily. Sure they'll use a bit of juice around town and towing but you have to expect that 3.8L after all, BUT on the open road with cruise control not a lot of difference, fuel consumption wise, to a few 2l plus four bangers I've had. ALSO, if you bust a tail light etc, there's a heap of them being wrecked out there and the price is a lot easier than a lot of Jap and especially Euro's.
