One front brake is sticking

My wife is having some brake issues in her mazda atenza, the left front brake seems to be biting and not letting go as it should, she said there was a horrible smell when she pulled up at home and the brake rotor is very hot to touch (driver side still just warm as normal). Is this an easy fix or something worse! Thanks for any help on here guys

Most likely sticking on the caliper slides if it is one side only, that would be the first place to check anyway.
Next would be a sticking caliper piston.

Replace the pads if they have been cooked up and bleed the front brakes in case the fluid got too hot.

bent or gummed up slides most likely culprit
