1. What's your take on Kia brand, specifically Sportage! I heard a second hand news about the gear stick detaching from transmission box! 2. Honda CRV 96 model - is it belt or chain! 3. Honda CRV - 4 wheel drive or otherwise!

I have a kia sportage. year 2000. So far I think its brilliant. The gearbox's auto trans are supposedly bullet proof.Dont know any thing about the later ones. A little hungrier on gas than I thought they would be though. Must admit though I have only owned it for about 1 month so I guess time will tell .:-)
From what I have heard of Honda CRV the 4wd's are supposed to be crap off road.

Depends on what kind of tyres you use ;)
But, yeah, it's a front wheel drive.until you get stuck.only then, the rear axle engages.which is stupid. Later model CRVs are much better.
