I've recently removed mine by using coathangers bent into a U shape with small notches at each end , bit of fiddling but works fine. have a look at the ones for sale on here to give you an idea of what you need to make.

same as on the commodore - i got an old thick wire coat hanger and made my own, piece of p!$$ to make and pull stereo out

Similar technique for a lot of stereos. The trick is to get all four prongs disengaging the lugs all at the same time!

I got a set of 2 DIN FORD stereo removal keys real cheap from the UK and took only 4 days to get here, heck that's faster almost than NZ delivery by NZ Post.
