VX commodore series 2 sometimes revs at between 1200 & 1500rpm when idle, then shoots up to 2000rpm and stays there until motor is turned off also does this while driving had new idle speed motor fitted an air flow meter cleaned

This is going to sound very weird but it is tingling in the back of my pea brain - is it an auto by any chance! Either way I recommend a quick trip to the local auto sparky to run an OBDII scan to see what codes have popped up, might give you a bit to work with

Clean out the throttle body and Idle Air Control Valve. Could be a large amount of carbon build up affecting idle etc

It's a manual, we've had it at the auto sparky he hooked his scanner thing up to it and everything is ok, also sent computer away and it's come back clear, has a new throttle body.

The IAC valve could be faulty.scan should reveal that.
