Hey guys I hit a car over a year ago. There was no damage on the car the driver said himself, I didn't get it in writing though. This happens 14 months ago now I've received a letter saying I have to pay up $1600 in a week! The car they reckon I was driving wasn't even my car. What do you guys think is there a time limit on claims! This is the first I've heard of it.

Just refer it to your insurance company, they can advise you from there.I take it you are insured!

I'm insured on the car I was driving, not on the car they think I was driving.

They can still recover, even all that time later. I'd say the either other person pissed around getting repairs done and they're only just recovering costs now that it's been paid for, or they only just tracked you down. I'd get in touch with the insurance company if I were you, these things will go to debt recovery and bite you on the arse later. If you weren't the one involved hopefully they'll be able to sort it out :)
