damage is so minor compared to the value of the car - why on earth did they write it off! I guess cost of new replacement parts could have tipped it over.

Often the owner does not want a damaged repaired car back when they are still almost new. Sometimes there is also hidden damage elsewhere ie transmission broken etc.

Wonder why the airbags didnt go off. Could have been in that accident at the top of great south road where that van did a u turn in front of the truck and took out all those expensive cars

most insurance companies will replace a car if its fairly new and then just give the insured a new car. some panel shop will buy it and fix it up and flick it off.
