also somone is pocketing 20 grand here in newzealand on each volt sold its 65 grand true sales price. but what is new we get ripped and shafted left right and center here not only on that.

clark20, Sep 29, 5:19pm
Nobodies pocketing that, they are selling below cost in the US

3tomany, Sep 29, 5:32pm
volt is probably the best thing GM have desighned in a very long time, problem is it is to expensive and some have paid x amount and the next guy to go to a gm swowroom gets it 20k cheaper so the launch in nz will have to carry a sustainable price or holden will have a dud on there hands for all the wrong reasons

intrade, Sep 29, 5:33pm
they also sell em for lower prices in europe and even cheaper in australia
then nz.
only we paymore the usa sell em even cheaper then any other countryits a load off bullox that they sell at a loss you can even import one from uk cheaper then what you will have to pay for one in this country

Extended range Ampera will start at £28995 including government Plug-In Car grant. the pommis subsedice it but even without that you can get it shipped here cheaper then what the ripoff artists want here .
NZD 57,427.21 = GBP 28,995

i driven the opel ampera it cost 52 grand swiss franks thats also about 65k nz plus 5 k shipping is 70k max, the whole world gets it for at least 10k less so dont tell me no one is pocketing money in this country. and 0 governemnt grant in switzerland only thing you get is 3 years no roadregistration charge for highest emission standard grant.

http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120922/AUTO0103/209220373 $30,000 US + 20% exchange rate = $36,000 + gst = $41,400 + importing costs of say $5000 = $46400 NZ. if taken at US retail price of $40,000 the car should still be under $60,000

intrade, Sep 29, 5:56pm
problemwith the us model they are Lhd so cant be used or registered here. we would have to fetch one from uk or australia to bypass the theving ba$tard$. 70k would be acceptable because of no grants or any thing here. but 85 common wake up! thats just frawd. and then one wonders why everyone moves out ofthis country , We could even have a own assembly plant for the volt and other makes that are profitable but the government rather sells all its assets to china and who ever and makes its own people unemployed.

3tomany, Sep 29, 6:02pm
lhd would be a pain but it does show GM are treating everyone different lhd or rhd the cost to make should be the same

clark20, Sep 29, 8:35pm
Yeah lets treat a 311 million people market the same as a 5 million people market 1/2 way round the worldTui please

If you don't like it import one yourself, the ask Holden to fix it if it goes wrong!

matarautrader, Sep 29, 8:38pm
I believe that as of some time next year RUC will have to be paid as well

3tomany, Sep 29, 8:45pm
the main reason electric and hybrid cars are cheaper to run is the free or cheap use of our roads they cant use them for free forever

stevo2, Sep 30, 12:50am
Have you forgotten 15% GST!

intrade, Sep 30, 1:02am
the other countrys also got gst so you got to deduct that first befor you add the nz gst.

Sounds about right, the UK list prices without the subsidy go from UKP34k to 38k (NZD 66k to 76k) for the top model: http://www.exchangeandmart.co.uk/new-cars/vauxhall/ampera

So we get no choice of model, and an extra 10k at least on the price. Come on Holden, it's supposed to be a "halo car", put a bit of investment into it instead of concentrating on price-gouging.

The Volt seems good, but I think we might have to wait until the price is more reasonable, $ 85, 000 is a bit much, though in talking to Holden, we found the costs to have all the tech gear and training for the small amount of cars they expect to sell, have to be recouped somehow.

We are buying an iMiEV first, see how that goes, then maybe get a Volt later when the price is reduced.

Mitsubishi have sold about 7 only, I think, and the Volt will proberly sell that many in the first year easily due to longer range.

I asked, but there are not going to be any discounts for either car, for fleet sales....:(

Trademe for the secondhand ones around 25, 000 Kms I guess then might be a good buy.

Hire A Holden.
