Parking Wardens targeting Workshops in CHCH

The ticket would then read 'parking a unsafe vehicle".
Still no logic invehicle requiring a warrant to be parked. If they abolish or change the requirements of the current system for warrants they will then ticket as i mention, just watch it happen!

kngfhrt, Oct 26, 1:36pm
Im surprised no one reprimanded this looser by politely cracking him hard on the lip!
just reading this gets Me irate!
i'd outright refuse to pay the fine and demand that it be waived!
He and His inner corrupt corporate are no more than just a bunch of badged up street thugs!
The robust people of christchurch are deserving of better!

twink19, Oct 26, 2:00pm
they tryed it out side our shop, I had quite a meaningful discussion with him, told to f off

trade4us2, Oct 26, 2:33pm
The best form of defence is attack.
Why don't those 15 people go to the boss of the parking warden and demand an explanation! And take a camera and sendthe photos to the media.

You might have nailed that one on the head. Given that most of the local bodies in this country are broke through their own incompetence, lack of forward planning and bureaucratic wastage you can bet they will be scratching to get their sticky fingers into that one.maybe thats the plan. Central govt gets rid of periodic WOF's and hands over at least part of the job of enforcement to councils and give them a cut of the revenue. The legislation to do this already does exist I believe. Much cheaper to have minimally trained trolls wandering around carparks doing cursary inspections of cars for obvious problems that are already stationary than to have sworn cops manning roadside checkpoints doing the same thing.

Its a perfect way of fuelling the local govt gravy train.

Sure did, one guy nailed a load of cars & wouldnt listen to reason, I wrote in & got off all of them bar one - the next time one of them came past he came in & said I should move the cars before he "see's them" which was fair enough & bloody generous because he would have filled a weeks quota in a half hour.
Its bloody hard mind you - Ive gone from a much larger workshop with a 10 car forecourt - the leases are out of this roof so Im in a smaller place with about 6 parks on a good day. I cant stop people parking on the road & bringing their keys in mind you. I do send out WOF reminders in plenty of time so theoretically the customers should be in before it expires.

msparts, Oct 26, 6:14pm
Thats the part that annoyed me, before it got heated and many local business owners got involved we all tried to have a reasonable conversation with the guy, were polite and reasonable, offered to move them but he just kept punching the details into his little machine, was an arogant little ., then his boss back at the council office was just as arogant if not more, to the point he told me this just makes him want to send wardens there more.

trade4us2, Oct 26, 6:41pm
Then go to the manager of the boss at the Council office. Eventually you'll get to an elected person, whio might actually care if he gets elected again anywhere.

pauldw, Oct 26, 6:58pm
If the car is permitted to be "operated" for the purpose of getting a WoF ( else testers wouldn't be able to test drive) and operate includes parking why do these council types get so agitated! If you're paying the MTA get them to stir the NZTA up for an opinion.

zephyrheaven, Oct 27, 6:33pm
Ha ha, and they wonder why people are leaving in droves. Parking in Chch was lame before the quakes, but now - even making the rebuild workers in the CBD pay to park their cars! Wilsons of course - no surprises there.

zephyrheaven, Oct 27, 6:40pm
A wise old git around the corner at work did coin it well - its like that scene from some nature doco - the crocs gobbling up the bison crossing the river on their annual migration (wardens in CBD) now sadly the crocs are in the estuary picking off a few helpless lemmings (mechanics in the burbs)

I thought they made enough money preying on people parking at the hospital, god knows we all want to spend as much time parked there as possible!

totally normal up here in Auckland

pollymay, Oct 27, 8:13pm
My cars often don't have a WOF. They run out because the car needs work and I land up buying them and fixingthem cheap after they have run out. There is also no reason to be ticketing cars at a place of repair for not being road safe or whatever, that's why they are there. Forget anything beyond that with how long they've had to sort it etc, they're at a place of repair and safety inspection actually being made safer and you've got some clout ticketing them for doing that. The ill logic of it makes my mind boggle.

chchchparties, Oct 27, 8:37pm
I don't think it's quite the same bud, charging workers that are trying to repair a damaged cbd is just plain stupid, the parking should be funded by our council. In now way is it comparable to Auckland.

As for ticketing cars outside a place to repair and get cars up to a suitable standard to achieve a wof, that's counter productive. NO logic there at all, very greedy and heartless.
My car was slapped with a $200 fine down Hayton rd the other day and to be fair they had every right, it just seems like an odd area to target cars, they are industrial areas, people here are working hard for there money and the road does have no parking limitations, seems like they have nothing better to do.

tool_shop173, Oct 28, 2:14am
Saw a parking warden today (Sunday) around 9.30am giving a ticket to a car that was parked outside a church. Looks like the rest of the lords people were at church too and the warden may have had a field day.easy pickings.

franc123, Oct 28, 4:33am
Nope not odd at all, industrial areas will get targeted because they are more likely to come across unwarranted or unlicensed vehicles there, many vehicles found there won't have them due to being cheap work hacks that go from home to work and back again and nowhere else. The industrial parts of Sth Auckland and Porirua and no doubt other places have also been targetted in this way.

austingtir, Oct 29, 12:15am
Sounds like an email to fair go is in order on this one. Some stupid counsel worker needs to be put in their place.

austingtir, Oct 29, 12:19am
Yes but targeting cars outside workshops in particular is just silly and is asking for a punch in the face from a grumpy mechanic.

morrisman1, Oct 29, 12:27am
Are you suggesting that religious people should be exempt from the law! There is no reason that just because you are at church you should be exempt from parking laws. Having an imaginary friend is no excuse.

johnf_456, Oct 29, 12:50am
and get yourself a assault charge.

tool_shop173, Oct 29, 1:16am
You got that all wrong sunshine. What I was saying was that there was a gathering of cars and that makes it easy pickings for the traffic warden. Next they will be at supermarkets.NO im NOT religious. It was an observation that I saw when driving past a church.

Where i live a very small rural town in Central North Island i told our local Sheep Shagger of a Police Officer to FARK of and get of our property on Friday. He was there issuing tickets on our forecourt while customers was filling up with petrol. Saw him right 3 tickets ffs. The mongrel.
