.I have a 2006 Vitara Turbo Diesel, the Fuel injector light came on about 4 mnths ago, I got the car serviced and it went out.Now the light has come on again and check engine light also.A friend mentioned to me a couple of days ago the car sounded like it was whistling (without knowing it was showing lights) so hoping its just a split hose. I dont have time to take into garage for a week, will it be safe to drive before then!

No. The light is on for a reason.

Air leak.look under the bonnetaround the inlet manifold for a cracked / displaced hose. The engine will come on for two reasons.if the air/fuel mixture is too lean and if it is too rich.
