Small claims, in your town. make them travel. and try to get someone, preferably the nice man that Snoopy put you onto, to come and put your case for you.

snoopy221, Nov 14, 4:30pm
I still say it was on backwards too.
And a picture is worth a thousand words.
So any pictures of the pressure plate -taken by moving the release fork back!
After all if it's all good-and a new pressure plate why not provide a picture!

mechnificent, Nov 14, 5:03pm
Ha. that bearing didn't look like it would have just made a little bluing. Either the pressure plate is chewed up, or it's been replaced. I very much doubt that there will be any "little bluing" on it.
If it hasn't got the little bluing, what's the bet it's the old one or a second hand one put in there since it wasn't charged, and everything else was.

Hi all
Not a happy camper - and yes this is going to court - be that small claims or civil
Having driven 240 kms (Taihape) am rather p!$$ed off - she is going in next week to be pulled apart ( thats of course if we get home)
2nd - 3rd grinds and catches-
5th flicks 20mm - yes 2CM up towards 4th as soon as you back off the gas or go to change down - as if she is coming out of gear but does not - you can play the stick when driving that amount no change in engine noise - BUT
When is 5th there is a higher whuring sounds of something spinning - but can't hear in other gears
Engine sounds fine - she drove nice most of the time - we cruised most of the hills etc
Suggestions of replaced pressure plate have been made along with other ideas from incorrect installation, (wrong way) to general stuff up
Have proper spring on clutch now )got a pat on back for that one - thank you snoop) and all bolts replaced with correct ones - this gives impression alone of sloppy work
Have to wait for bearing spec report before can do much else
They did mention that they thought a bearing in the gear box may well be collapsing hence problem with 5th gear
Why risk driving all this way - because I have not paid 5k for a lawn ornament and if its is going to "break" it will.

mechnificent, Nov 15, 3:20am
Careful Tiggles. If you operating it knowing there are faults that they are liable for, and you knowingly cause more damage. the liability is on you.

Drive carefully, watch what you say.

skin1235, Nov 19, 1:57am
your last post last thursday, any progress!,
you were charged 3.5k for a gearbox repair last month, now a bearing has collapsed!, mind you they also charged you for a clutch job that didn't hack the pace either
back around in circles it would appear

tiggles2, Nov 19, 2:47am
Evening all
I don't have much net access at the minute when away
Right - yes i feel like I am getting the run around
Lots of excellent advise and help on here - awesome guys :)
People in person - some ok others. hmm
Ask for anything in writing and you'd think I was casting them with a butter knife - why who knows - old boys club !
So I am left with a truck that I truely do not know what is good bad or indifferent having relied on the knowledge and service of those who advertised that they are qualified to do such work and give such opinions
I have a lot of material to put into some sort of legal logical order - and am awaiting a report on the release bearing from a specialist in the field -and that is where I am at
So yes I paid 3.5 K for a gearbox & clutch job and then another 1.5 k for the clutch again and now another few hundy for the '' not correct bolts and missing spring" p!$$ed off is not quite the mood

a.woodrow, Nov 19, 3:02am
thanks for the update, have been reading with interest

jmma, Nov 19, 3:14am
Keep smiling tiggles, remember you are going to win this one (o:

tiggles2, Nov 19, 3:18am
Thanks jmma - there is a smile there - under the frustration - will be a good story in a few years ;p

supernova2, Nov 19, 4:22am
There must be one of us somewhere that would be prepared to pull tiggles truck apart and fix it properly.I'd do it but i don't have the facilities to do trucks.

skin1235, Nov 19, 11:33pm
its not a big job supernova, a 5sp box behind a 2.8, not a lot bigger than two briefcases side by side, the box complete wouldn't weigh in at more than 60kg, I'd be in like shot and have had it sorted by day two of the saga if I had the time and not have the 300km distance issue

keep smilin as said tiggles, you will win it eventually, nobody can escape these sorts of follies forever, it may take some time and effort but they've obviously been well practised at getting away with it for a while - it's going to shake their wee world a bit to be pulled up for it which means they will fight and cry for a while
and they going to have red faces eventually - stupid attitude for a company to have

supernova2, Nov 20, 1:58am
Its not the size of the box etc but the fact I don't have anywhere suitable to park a truck and I'm getting to old and lazy to park it over the drain etc.Thinking back to one of the early posts there was comment about having to redrill the selectors. What's the bet that the selector fingers/hubs are worn (or the detents) thus allowing the now apparent slop in the gear lever!I have no idea but is a 2nd hand box a viable idea or is the truck too old to find one!
If that guy was a mechanic then there truely is hope for the counter staff at Ripco/Supersheep.LOL

Do P&S treat all their customers like this!If so how come they have any customers!I know that the Government did away with "shelted workshops" many years ago.It appears that P&S have stepped up to the plate and done their civic duty and provided a replacement facility.(LOL)

mechnificent, Nov 20, 2:37am
"shelted workshops". excellent.

tiggles2, Nov 20, 3:52am
lol :)
Sheltered work shops - if only you had been there ' to see' what I saw ! That statement is so fitting.
Apparently via the grape vine- I am not the first female truck owner to be treated to such 'service' from P&S with the same "head in sand ostrich" answers when challenged when work has not worked.
Yes truck does need to be pulled apart for pictures etc- working on it
Not sure about second hand gear box - P & S said nothing in country hence need to rebuild when they had it - but they said a lot of things.

jmma, Dec 2, 12:25am
Wondering if there is an update on this !

alfred011, Dec 2, 3:13am
those 5 speed boxes quite often buggered the rear output bearingas 5th gear is at back of box you can change bearing by removing driveshaft, remove hand brake drum pull off driveshaft flange, remove hand brake backing plate, remove rear gearbox housing, pull off bearing using a splti puller which locks onto bearing circlip groove, make sure you replace it with hi load type bearing with filling slot for balls as standard bearings dont last long, these were a problem on the KT25 type models when the bearing goes increasde end float make them jump out of gear,a very basic gearbox dont use 5th gear when carrying a load.

tiggles2, Dec 3, 5:19am
Morning all
Sorry for long time no post have been away - restricted net access
Not much to report - waiting on bearing report, have caught up with a retired mechanic who held franchise - we are meeting later this week to look, listen and address issues and go from there
Thank you for your post alfred011 - am too tired tonight to understand but have print screen and will read properly later :)

tiggles2, Dec 11, 3:49am
Evening all
Interesting week - but all looking very good for a positive outcome. Actual cause for failure appears to be installation related as predicted.
Can't say too much on here as lurkers, trolls or 'whatever' take great delight in taking out the wooden spoon for a good stir - hope someone does the same for them when its their turn to need help.
Will post more when can

jmma, Dec 11, 1:40pm
Thats sounding good tiggles, look forward to your next post (o:

saki, Dec 11, 9:57pm
Good on you for sticking to your guns Tiggles2

tiggles2, Dec 12, 12:37am
:) Thank you jimma & snoopy
I'm sticking to them saki - lock stock n barrel - regardless of the bullying, lies, 'dumbness' and what ever else gets chucked my way, there is a principle here not to mention morals, ethics and plain old fashion good manners.

sr2, Dec 12, 12:48am
Go get 'em girl, we're all on your side.

myleif, Dec 14, 5:44pm
So is there an update on this one! Been reading it for ages. Or is it still just a lack of net access
