i'm pretty sure it a fuel problem but just wanting other options ill be driving along then all of a sudden it will start coughing and spluttering and have no power sometimes even dieing then it doesnt like starting again ideas on how to fix please iv filled it with 98 but only helped a bit

well my mate has a wrx and there's a meter that measures the air going into the engine (my falcon has one too) to decide how much petrol to put in through injectors. when his one went faulty (the same thing happened on our land rover disco too) it spluttered and carryied on. just a thought i had though. i don't KNOW obviously.

Next time it looses power, turn off engine, unplug air flow meter, start engine again. The check engine light will come on but if it runs better then the problem is almost definitely the air flow meter.

Next time it's stops/wont start, try kicking/hitting the bottom of the fuel tank. If it starts its the fuel pump.
