Wanting to replace my 4 speed M21 in my 308 VK with a 5 speed. Have been offered a Celica W50 and was wondering if anyone had any experience or thoughts about this! Is the Supra W58 any better! Or should I stay clear of them all together!

How hot is your 308 cant remember the numbers but the cast iron one was best sorry not much help

Its a standard VK SS, think about 180kw. reading up on other forums, they reckon the W50 suits better. now just need to know if input shaft etc will need to swapped

w50 is fine just use the toyota heavy duty clutch and holden pressure plate, I have used them before and the input shaft bearings have worn out on both when tourchered, why not used a 5speed out of a vn commodore or a 700r4 box!

is the vn a 304 or 308 block and the input shaft on my one is 16.5 cm ,would it bolt straight on !

im sure its the holden patten not the chev patten, could be wrong I have had both and overcome the issue by changing bell housings. you will need a aftermarket bell housing using a toyota box any way

I have done it with a Chev, from memory it was an 11" Chev pressure plate And a Dyna truck disc.

did you have to drill 1 hole larger in the flywheel! im sure ive done this as well years ago.

I don't recall having to do that, it was a Chev pressure plate on a Chev flywheel. I did have to get a bronze bush turned up to replace the spigot bearing though.

Go for a T5.Alot of commodores came out with them and they can handle that power.The best toyota 5 speed is the R154.A W58 is alright too,just dont give it too much sh@t.

Be blowins right even in mild 302front input shaft bearings insupraboxshat themsevles twice .Graham Berrymachined the case & fitted a double rollerbearing which cured it .
